Countertop questions

What people ask before they choose

Quartz or granite — which is better for a kitchen?+

Both are excellent. Quartz (Cambria, MSI) is engineered stone: non-porous, never needs sealing, and comes in consistent colors including marble looks. Granite is 100% natural, extremely heat resistant, and every slab is one of a kind — it should be sealed periodically. If you cook hard and love natural variation, granite shines. If you want low maintenance and a specific look, quartz is the easy answer.

How much do quartz countertops cost in Virginia?+

It depends on the color group and the layout of your kitchen. Our color browser shows a starting per-square-foot range for every Cambria and MSI color so you can compare honestly, and we'll give you a written estimate after a quick measurement. Most kitchen countertop projects with us fall in the $2,000–$5,000 range installed.

What's the difference between Cambria and MSI quartz?+

Cambria is American-made in Minnesota, family-owned, and backed by a transferable lifetime warranty — it's the premium choice with 200+ designer patterns. MSI quartz offers a very wide range of colors at a friendlier price with excellent durability. We carry both so you can choose by look, not by compromise.

How long does it take to get new countertops?+

Typically 2–3 weeks from template to install for in-stock colors. We coordinate templating with our local fabrication partners, fabrication takes about a week, and installation is usually a single day.

Do you install countertops?+

We coordinate the whole process — measuring, templating, fabrication and installation — with trusted local fabricators and installers we've vetted. You get one point of contact and one schedule.

Can I see the countertop next to my cabinet finish?+

Yes — that's the best part of the design office. Save your favorite countertop colors and cabinet finishes online, then we'll put physical samples side by side in Staunton so you can see them in real light.
